Going but not forgotten...........

The time is coming when the brocantes will end and the days get darker earlier.  Before that happens there are just a few more flea markets to get to.  Here are a few of my favourite recent finds.......

Pretty silver and enamelled religious medal, art nouveau trivet, childs black velvet Victoria jacket, brass hotel/key tags, old butter dish, santons for epiphany, the prettiest little porcelain cups with butterfly handles, 1700's leather bound book, chalkware statue, pectoral crucifix.  All listed on my ebay shop here: http://stores.ebay.com/frenchfanciesinfrance

Its that time of the year again........................

Every year I live for the first weekend in September....................for the biggest brocante in our area.  3000 stalls + over 2 days - numerous trips back to the van to unload the goodies and run back to the fields again for more shopping.  A perfect place for re-stocking, looking for items on client's "wish lists", finding that perfect item for a lot less than you thought, finding something you have never seen before.........I am losing sleep wondering what I will find...............

Will it be one of these?   I would love another mannequin but with a "wasp" waist, so hard to find in decent condition.  Or maybe another one of these...................
Rusty, shabby, hard to find "string keeper" tin c1900's.  Perfect in my eyes but just rubbish to someone else.
Or maybe another one of these...........................
A very pretty c1910 silk covered and lined ladies boudoir or glove box.   I will just have to wait!

Happy to be home

It was hard work, but worth the effort.   Thanks to S and L I had somewhere to sleep and a hot meal.  A great success meeting lots of interesting and fun people as well as a few weird ones as well.

Happy to be home and looking forward to re-stocking (and the next fair)!  Hunting and buying is definitely the most fun!

Taking control ................................

The hardest thing about selling at an antiques fair is taking control of your stock before it controls you............

All of the above has to fit into a small van - not all of it has been labelled and priced, not all of it is in it's right box, I can't see my beautiful marble fireplace and BH is getting up tight about "my stuff" spreading - its also made it's way into two barns and a cupboard.........................mmm buying and then letting go is not the easiest thing in the world to.............

I need to find a farmer who will cut the field and bail the hay up before I lose my kids and dogs in it.........something else I need to take control of

Really I should just chill and enjoy the beautiful sunsets we are having...............

Brocante overload ............................

GBF was here at the weekend - we visited 3 brocantes and spent 12 solid hours in the car or rummaging - here is just a taster of what we found...................

Linen, linen and more linen - the cupboard is overflowing - I just have to learn when to stop!  The weather has turned a corner, the days are longer and warmer and the scented roses are here.  Summer is on it's way.
